• Dr. Glakpe spoke with us about the power behind using calculus to solve real world problems. He helped clarify some info about compound interest and he gave us a sample problem If you won the lottery would you rather take $100 million (after taxes) immediately or $150 million over 20 years. I would pick the [...]

  • On Friday, July 8th, we took a field trip to the engineering building to learn more information about Nano Technology. First, we listened to a presentation by Gary Harris. He informed us of the many uses of nanotechnology, from stain resistant pants to basketballs that never go flat. He also made it abundantly clear exactly [...]

  • That video really helped me understand integrals better. I already vaguely understood it, but the video really improved my confidence in my ability to do integrals. I think my spike in confidence is due to the confidence the professor exudes in the video. Even though I was beyond lost at the beginning of the course, I had faith and [...]

  • On Monday we had a seminar hosted by two employees of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Before I begin my essay and summary of the points I wanted to supply some background information on the NRC. The NRC was established in 1975 as a result of the separation of the Atomic Energy Commission and the Department [...]

  • Last day of MSEIP for a couple of days. I am going to miss all the new friends I have made. I am NOT going to miss this cafeteria. Hope everyone that is staying has fun and everyone that is leaving stays safe.

  • Man, I shouldn’t have written over a page for my NCEP report :( . I got points taken off.

    Bare minimum from now on!

  • Watched the math video last night.

It helped me understand the idea of a derivative a lot better than I did in class, especially since the professor messed up the example and I got confused.

  • *Generic comment about my excitement to learn*

I feel like this video was a bit too long as well. The professor was very nervous in the first part of the video. The end was definitely the highlight of the entire video, and I found it to be just about as interesting as you most likely.

  • NCEP Field Trip Our trip to the National Center for Environmental Prediction was informative and interesting. I personally learned a great deal about the weather system and the steps and preventative measures taken by weather experts all over the country as well as the world to help save lives. We took a guided tour with [...]

  • Just finished the calculus video.

The professor seemed to relax at the end of the video, which is good. When he described how the sin of (1/x) isn’t a continuous function and how it gets closer and closer to 0, it all clicked for me.

  • I hope this is how you make a blog.

I’m halfway through the calculus video right now. This guy seems really nervous and I’m not really following what he is saying. I am skeptical at best that I will understand this section.
