• Dr. Glapke’s purpose of this seminar, to explain the purpose behind these careers: MONEY. We learned that money came from bartering, which is the process of trading things to get what you eventually need.  We need money for a variety of reasons. It improves the quality of life by serving our needs. Money enables you to be able to [...]

  • On July 8, 2011 we had by far the MOST interesting seminar. Dr. Gary Harris came to speak to us about nanotechnology. Nanotechonology is defined as the study and applications of things or structures that are of the order or below one hundred nanometerfundamental levels. In simple terms, it means doing research as the most [...]

  • Can you say totally BITTERSWEET? I never expected to have so much fun. I was skeptical to come here because I was so far from home, but now I really appreciate the experience. I’ve met some awesome people (which I think I’ve said before) and learned a lot in the process. DC is a great [...]

  • When you hear the word NASA, what words immediately pop into your head? Personally, I think of rockets, stars, and comets. I was amazed to be introduced to the James Webb Telescope that’s scheduled to launch in 2018. This telescope is unlike any other, due to its complicated design. This telescope is responsible for going [...]

  • This past Monday, we were privileged to hear Kevin Williams speak about his life. As he spoke about his career at NRC, he was obligated to tell us about the steps he took to get there. Mr. Williams explained that he spent years as a troublemaker. Many teachers thought nothing of him, and he as [...]

  • Personally, when I was informed that we were going to be visiting NCEP, I could not help but feel uninterested. I had convinced myself that there was nothing beneficial about visiting a place that predicted the weather. As long as the weather is accurate, who cares about the process that leads up to it? Right? [...]

  • So, I haven’t blogged in a couple of days! I wish I could catch everyone  on what has been going on, but I don’t even remember. The days FLY BY up here, so the best advice to anyone who’s thinking about participating is: enjoy it. The classes are long and the days are short. There [...]

  • Just received critique on our presentation. Wasn’t tooooo bad. Can’t wait to see the grade on it though. Apparently, we were really good speakers and kept it entertaining, we just didn’t have enough content. It’s fine, though. All goes into the preparation for next time! :)

  • It’s funny how I JUST posted a blog last night about how I’m always on time & I woke up late this morning. Yeah, try 7:35 AM. Ughhhhh. Had to rush this morning.

On a brighter note, I aced my Physics quiz! :)

  • Due to the fact that I didn’t ace my Physics quiz Monday, I’m studying for the one tomorrow. Guess who’s getting an A? THIS GIRL. Haha. Can’t wait to update you guys and let you know when it’s official!

P.S. Music is the BEST way to study. Soooooo calming. :)

  • Sooooo… We’re supposed to be asleep, but everyone’s like wide awake. I’m in my room though because curfew’s at 10. -_- Yeah, sucks right? Anyway, maybe I should call it a night so I can get up on time in the morning. Wait. I get up every morning on time. So, NEVER MIND! But I’m [...]

I can’t say it was entertaining, but it was definitely informing!

  • OMG. How about we try the LONGEST video everrrrrr? Anyway, a lot of the concepts I recognized from Pre Calculus. He talked a lot about limits, which was really familiar. I don’t think I could ever forget because that’s the part I hated most! :(

  • So today, we went to Physics class. Most of the time was spent discussing what would would be preparing to learn during the summer! The teacher was cool or whatever, but I don’t think physics is my thing. His teaching style is cool & he was doing his best not to bore us to death! But [...]
